The Molecular Structure & Function program provides our lab access to key infrastructure providing biophysical and biochemical characterization techniques. The techniques include: isothermal titration calorimetry, high-throughput protein stability assessment, bio-layer interferometry, circular dichroism spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, high-throughput plate reading.
Additionally, the Howell Lab has pioneered the development of the Structural and Biophysical Core Facility.
Structural and Biophysical Core Facility
The Structural and Biophysical Core (SBC) Facility here at SickKids provides tools and services specializing in biophysical methods for investigating biomolecular structure, dynamics, stability, and interactions. Such tools include X-ray crystallography, starting from crystal growth through to in-house data-collection.
Our lab also has access to a wide range of facilities and equipment support through the SickKids Research Institute, including many on-site services.
SPARC BioCentre
The SickKids Proteomics, Analytics, Robotics & Chemical Biology Centre (SPARC Biocentre) provides many services, including high-throughput drug discovery.
The Structural & Biophysical Core
The Structural & Biophysical Core facility is a shared instrument facility specializing in biophysical methods for investigating biomolecular structure, dynamics, stability, and interactions.
The Imaging Facility
The Imaging Facility at SickKids provides a full range of biological imaging solutions.
TCAG
The Centre for Applied Genomics (TCAG) offers services related to DNA sequencing and synthesis.
