The Premature Infant Pain Profile-Revised (PIPP-R)
The Premature Infant Pain Profile (PIPP) has been extensively validated for the assessment of pain in both preterm and term infants. However, similar to other such measures, there is limited psychometric data for infants that are 28 weeks gestational age) and term infants (less than or equal to two months old).
An interactive eLearning module describes the PIPP-R and how to use it in your clinical setting. The PIPP-R is a bio–behavioural observational tool for assessing acute and procedural pain in newborn infants and has been validated for use in pre-term infants ≥28 gestational age and newborns up to two months. The PIPP-R addresses validity and feasibility issues in the original Premature Infant Pain Profile (PIPP).
