Bonnie Stevens received the 2014 CIHR Knowledge Translation Award in recognition of her leadership exemplary knowledge translation (KT) efforts and activities. In her research, she has worked to transform the way that health professionals think about paediatric pain and to help put research evidence into practice to manage pain. As the Principal Investigator of the CIHR Team in Children’s Pain, these efforts have led to improved assessment and management practices and a significant reduction in severe pain among children at the participating hospitals. Stevens is now working on KT tool kits to improve pain management in broader settings, both nationally and internationally.
