Hello, I’m Beck. I started working at the Brain Tumour Biobank in early 2026 after moving back to Ontario from Winnipeg Manitoba where I had been working at the National Microbiology Laboratory (NML). I grew up in Ontario, and attended the University of Guelph for an undergraduate degree in microbiology. During the COVID19 pandemic I completed a master’s degree in biochemistry from McMaster University. Following graduate school I worked for a 2SLGBTQ+ youth helpline before taking a contract at the NML. My current role as a Clinical Research Project Assistant for the Brain Tumour Biobank at SickKids blends my love of community connection and laboratory work.

I’ve always been curious. I enjoy a challenge and testing the limits of what we know. Science felt like a natural career path, it’s a blend of everything I love.

I enjoy hiking, walking my dog, reading fiction (horror, sci-fi, Caribbean literature), knitting and crochet, gardening and spending time with friends and family.
