IPSS participation provides enrolling site investigators an opportunity to participate in IPSS publications as coauthors. IPSS also provides to investigators a free analysable database to store site patient data, while allowing sites to retain ownership of that data. IPSS gives contributing investigators the opportunity to be involved in several multicentre studies and make more statistically significant manuscripts by providing access to a larger dataset. If any patient data from a site is used in a manuscript, the contributing investigator will have opportunities for coauthorship or will get recognized by group authorship, “IPSS Study Investigators” in the manuscript. Investigators can submit their own proposals for sub-studies in IPSS. Investigators also join a network of other clinicians and scientists studying paediatric stroke and can request input from the IPSS Network on challenging cases. Participation in IPSS also provides mentorship and facilitates the development of on-site paediatric stroke pathways and programs.
