In the Derry Lab we use the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans, a tiny nematode worm, to study gene functions in the context of when and where development intersects disease. The big questions we are interested in answering are:

  • How cells make life or death decisions?

  • How are signaling thresholds regulated in development and disease?

  • How do biological tubes develop?

  • What governs cell size?

To achieve these goals we collaborate with colleagues in Canada and around the world.
