Kids Science Program

In April 2006, Dr. Robinson launched an innovative outreach program called Kids Science to help “at-risk” youth make informed educational and career choices in the fields of science and technology. Kids Science targets three “at-risk” groups of children who lack equitable access to interactive science experiences:

  1. adolescents with chronic illnesses who receive medical care from SickKids;
  2. students who attend middle and high schools in high-risk neighborhoods in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA); and
  3. secondary school students in remote areas of Northeastern Ontario, who due to their geographic location, do not have equal access to science and technology experiences.

Project partners for Kids Science include:

  • Toronto and District School Board (TDSB)
  • District School Board Ontario North East
  • Ontario Science Centre
  • Horizons
  • Visions of Science Network for Learning Inc.

Since its inception, the Kids Science program has reached over 14,000 students across Ontario.
