Thursday June 6, 2019: INSIGHT Family Appreciation Night

On June 6, 2019 the INSIGHT study team held its annual INSIGHT Family Appreciation Night. This event focused on the progress made in this study over the past year, and highlighted the upcoming pragmatic clinical trial of an educational video for nephrotic syndrome that will be launched in the near future.

Thursday March 14, 2019: World Kidney Day

Thursday, March 14, 2019 marked World Kidney Day, with over 100 patients, families, and staff attending the annual orange-themed event at SickKids in support of kidney disease awareness. This year highlighted the importance of access to kidney health resources around the world. 

Thursday March 8, 2018: World Kidney Day

On March 8, 2018, the Division of Nephrology held its third annual World Kidney Day event. Over 100 patients and families, as well as hospital staff, attended the orange-themed event in the Atrium to learn about their kidneys through educational games and interactive displays. The Division of Nephrology also lit up 30 landmarks around the world in orange in support of kidney awareness, including those across Canada, Europe, and Asia, with the goal of showing everyone affected by kidney disease that the world stands with them in their fight.

Wednesday June 28, 2017: INSIGHT Family Appreciation Night

The second annual INSIGHT study Family Appreciation Night was held on June 28, 2017. Families involved in the INSIGHT study spent the evening working in small groups to help the study team develop educational materials, which will be used to support other families of children with nephrotic syndrome. 

Thursday March 9, 2017: World Kidney Day

The Division of Nephrology at SickKids held its second annual World Kidney Day event on March 9, 2017. The day featured a hospital-wide event with games, prizes, and demonstrations to teach patients, families, and staff about kidney function and the importance of maintaining kidney health through healthy active living. In honor of the SickKids event, the CN Tower, 3D Toronto sign at Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto City Hall Towers, Niagara Falls, and Mississauga’s Absolute World Towers were all lit in orange–the World Kidney Day color.

Tuesday July 12, 2016: INSIGHT Family Appreciation Night

The INSIGHT team held the study’s inaugural Family Appreciation Night, where patients with nephrotic syndrome and their families were invited to take part in an evening of games, activities, and mini-lectures about nephrotic syndrome.
