What’s your research background?
As coordinator for the International RRD Consortium I facilitate collaboration with local healthcare teams to ensure that every RRD tumour is molecularly classified and treated appropriately, such that each patient we consult on may be cared for to the highest capacity. We are open in over 45 countries, and now register 2-4 new patients every week, so we are poised to understand the complex landscape that is CMMRD and help all over the world!
Do you have any advice for someone interested in a career in research?
My advice to anyone exploring a career in research is to volunteer, get involved with as much as you can, and foster strong working relationships. Explore new things and find people with similar passions! Most importantly – never give up. I would have never expected animal research to become my niche, however I’ve found myself guided here through the experience and relationships I’ve made along the way.
What are your interests outside of science?
Outside of science I enjoy being active and trying out new vegan recipes. I also recently began playing the bass guitar! I volunteer a few hours each week with the Distress Centres of Toronto, providing first line support to members of the community.
What’s your favorite food?
Definitely Thai Food (tofu, roasted veggies, noodles, spring rolls) – yum. Also – Xiao Long Bao.
Do you prefer coffee, tea, or none?
Coffee! ~~~((•_•))~~~
