What’s your background?
I graduated from the University of Waterloo in 2017 with a Bachelor of Mathematics, focused primarily on Pure Mathematics and Combinatorics/ Optimization. I began working for Sickkids in January of 2018 and began working in the Tabori Lab in November of 2019.
What research projects are you currently working on?
I have a dual position within the Research Institute and The University of Toronto. I primarily work with grants, finance, and contracts in the Tabori Lab; and help to manage Medical Innovations Toronto (MiTO), a Translational Research/ Medicine Hub run through UofT.
Do you have any advice for someone interested in a career in research?
Go outside your comfort zone. Sometimes individuals are not confident in their credentials and abilities. The best thing you can do is put your best foot forward and let your abilities do the talking; or so to speak. No one is expected to be an expert; being open to learning and growth are most important in choosing a career in Research.
What are your interests outside of science?
I am an avid illustrator and enjoy DIYing projects. I also spend much of my time training for marathons, exercising outdoors, and rock climbing. During the school year, I spend time volunteering with extra help for high school math students.
What’s your favorite food?
I’m always open to trying new flavour fusions, but homecooked Romanian food will always have my heart.
Do you prefer coffee, tea, or none?
I cannot get through the day without at least one cup of coffee!!!
