Please review the <a href=\"https:\/\/lab.research.sickkids.ca\/sparc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/60\/2026\/03\/SPARC_Terms_and_Conditions.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SPARC Terms and Conditions (PDF)<\/a> before submitting a service request.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Services:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"color: #000000\">All services are provided for research purposes only and any services, results, data or products provided (\u201cDeliverables\u201d) are intended for research purposes only. Services are carried out in a research laboratory that is not an accredited diagnostic \/ clinical laboratory. As such, SPARC BioCentre will not provide Deliverables for the purposes of obtaining information for diagnosis, prophylaxis or treatment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Ethics Approval:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"color: #000000\">SPARC BioCentre requires that samples from animal or human origins are accompanied with information about the ethics approval from the originating study. For samples of human origins, we do request a copy of your Research Ethics Board (REB) approval letter from the issuing institution.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(38, 43, 46)\">Acknowledgment Policy:<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"color: #000000\"><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(103, 107, 109)\">SPARC operates on a cost-recovery basis and collects fees for service to offset operating costs, which include significant expenses associated with the maintenance and quality control of instrumentation. In cases where intellectual contributions have been made by SPARC staff, which may or may not include formal collaboration agreements, co-authorship on publications may be appropriate following usually accepted scientific practices and journal requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000\"><strong><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(103, 107, 109)\">In addition, to satisfy reporting requirements of funding partners and to monitor our scientific impact as a core facility, we require that clients agree to recognize SPARC in publications (e.g., journal articles and poster presentations) and to share this information with SPARC. Acceptable recognition of work performed by SPARC includes co-authorship if appropriate or acknowledgement as follows:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000\"><strong><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(103, 107, 109)\">(A)\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(103, 107, 109)\">In the Acknowledgments section of manuscripts\/posters a statement be included such as:\u00a0<i data-ogsc=\"\">The authors wish to thank [name of SPARC personnel] at SPARC BioCentre, Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada for performing [analysis performed; e.g., metabolic flux analysis; or mass spectrometry data generation and analysis ]; AND<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000\"><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(103, 107, 109)\"><strong>(B)<\/strong> In the body of manuscripts, when data emanating from SPARC are first mentioned or in the corresponding Methods section the following language is suggested:\u00a0<i data-ogsc=\"\">[Service, e.g., mass spectrometry and associated data analysis] was performed at SPARC BioCentre, Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;] Terms and Conditions: SPARC BioCentre is a core facility at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) Research Institute.
