Disease<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Our laboratory strives to better understand host-microbe interactions in the gut in the setting of disease. \u00a0With the use of complimentary\u00a0<em>in vitro<\/em>\u00a0tissue culture systems and\u00a0<em>in vivo<\/em>\u00a0murine models of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) (infectious-, stress-, and chemically-induced) we study the mechanisms by which pathogens (enterohemorrhagic\u00a0<em>Escherichia coli<\/em>\u00a0and adherent invasive\u00a0<em>E. coli<\/em>\u00a0from patients with Crohn disease), probiotics, prebiotics, and micronutrients (vitamins, polyunsaturated\u00a0fatty acids) influence disease outcome.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;25px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/4&#8243;][vc_column_text]<a class=\"dt-single-image\"
