style=\"margin:0;--fontSize:28;line-height:1.29;\"><strong>What is the CPCHECKlist<span data-contrast=\"auto\"><sup>\u00a9<\/sup><\/span>?<\/strong><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-1\"><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Comorbidities are common among children with <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">severe cerebral palsy (CP)<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and have a negative impact on their health-related quality of life. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Children with severe CP often require the services of healthcare professionals (HCPs) from multiple disciplines to address these comorbidities.\u00a0<\/span> <b><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Caregiver Priorities \u2013 Comorbidities &amp; Health Evaluation Checklist (CPCHECKlist<sup>\u00a9<\/sup>)<\/span><\/i><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> is <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">a comprehensive parent\/caregiver-reported checklist that captures the presence and severity of different comorbidities, and identifies which of these health issues are of particular concern. The <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">CPCHECKlist<sup>\u00a9<\/sup> captures the <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">parent\/s\u2019 perception<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> of their child\u2019s status with each health issue, and which of these they wish to have addressed.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The CPCHECKlist<sup>\u00a9<\/sup> has two parts. The first part captures<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> the presence and severity of 25 different comorbidities; and the second part captures the use of\/challenges with 13 different health technologies.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The CPCHECKlist<span data-contrast=\"auto\"><sup>\u00a9<\/sup><\/span> is to be completed by the patient or their primary caregiver if they are unable to complete it themselves and asks about a broad range of comorbid conditions common in those with cerebral palsy. The purpose of the CPCHECKlist<span data-contrast=\"auto\"><sup>\u00a9<\/sup><\/span> is to provide patients and their caregivers with an opportunity to identify the areas of care that are most important to them. In turn, this will assist in medical decision-making, help clinicians focus their care, and help them understand a patient\u2019s response to medical interventions. We wish to establish that the CPCHECKlist<span data-contrast=\"auto\"><sup>\u00a9<\/sup><\/span> is sensible, reliable (reproducible), valid, and responsive (sensitive to change).<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-3 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-text-color:#00afd8;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"margin:0;--fontSize:28;line-height:1.29;\"><strong>Who completes the CPCHECKlist<span data-contrast=\"auto\"><sup>\u00a9<\/sup><\/span>?<\/strong><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW212747271 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW212747271 BCX0\" data-ccp-parastyle=\"No Spacing\">The <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2 SCXW212747271 BCX0\" data-ccp-parastyle=\"No Spacing\">CPCHECKlist<span data-contrast=\"auto\"><sup>\u00a9<\/sup><\/span><\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW212747271 BCX0\" data-ccp-parastyle=\"No Spacing\"> is <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW212747271 BCX0\" data-ccp-parastyle=\"No Spacing\">intended for parents\/caregivers of children or young adults with severe cerebral palsy (CP) and CP-like conditions. It is <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW212747271 BCX0\" data-ccp-parastyle=\"No Spacing\">completed by the parent or caregiver<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW212747271 BCX0\" data-ccp-parastyle=\"No Spacing\">, typically prior to a clinical encounter<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW212747271 BCX0\" data-ccp-parastyle=\"No Spacing\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW212747271 BCX0\" data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-4 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-text-color:#00afd8;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"margin:0;--fontSize:28;line-height:1.29;\"><strong>Uses of the CPCHECKlist<span data-contrast=\"auto\"><sup>\u00a9<\/sup><\/span><\/strong><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In summary: <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The CPCHECKlist<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><sup>\u00a9<\/sup><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> may be used:<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li data-leveltext=\"%1.\" data-font=\"\" data-listid=\"2\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\">By parents: to generate a list of health- and health technology-related priorities<\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"%1.\" data-font=\"\" data-listid=\"2\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">By clinicians: to guide decision making directed towards the health concerns identified.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"%1.\" data-font=\"\" data-listid=\"2\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">By researchers: to quantify (and adjust for) the health status of a child with severe CP in a standardized, comprehensive way for comparative research.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>More details on the uses of the CPCHECKlist<span data-contrast=\"auto\"><sup>\u00a9<\/sup><\/span> can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/lab.research.sickkids.ca\/pscoreprogram\/uses-of-the-cpchecklist\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-5 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-text-color:#00afd8;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"margin:0;--fontSize:28;line-height:1.29;\"><strong>How was the CPCHECKlist<span data-contrast=\"auto\"><sup>\u00a9<\/sup><\/span> developed?<\/strong><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-4\"><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The content (items) of the CPCHECKlist<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><sup>\u00a9<\/sup><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> was <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">derived from a list of comorbidities captured in a prospective international cohort study of children with severe (non-ambulatory) CP and CP-like conditions, in which these were shown to be negatively correlated with HRQL, as measured by the CPCHILD questionnaire. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The items were vetted by a multi-disciplinary group of clinicians who made modifications or additions to create the initial CPCHECKlist<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><sup>\u00a9<\/sup><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. This version was evaluated for its sensibility (face and content validity, feasibility and utility) through an international survey of health care professionals across multiple disciplines involved in the care of children and adults with severe CP. Additional modifications were made based on the recommendations made by survey respondents.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The CPCHECKlist<sup>\u00a9<\/sup> is currently undergoing sensibility evaluation by parents &amp; caregivers of children with severe CP and CP-like conditions, the results of which might lead to additional alterations.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-6 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-text-color:#00afd8;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"margin:0;--fontSize:28;line-height:1.29;\"><strong>Current Project Status<\/strong><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-5\"><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The current version of the CPCHECKlist<sup>\u00a9<\/sup> can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/lab.research.sickkids.ca\/pscoreprogram\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/72\/2022\/04\/CPCHECKlist-v.1.1-April-18-2022-Watermarked.pdf\">here<\/a>.
