Who We Are<\/span><\/h2>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The Pechlivanoglou Lab at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) Research Institute is composed of a team of researchers and graduate students with expertise in health economics, decision science, biostatistics, epidemiology and health services research. We are apart of the<\/span> Child Health Evaluative Sciences<\/a><\/span><\/span> research program at SickKids in Toronto, Canada<\/span> [\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

What We Do<\/span><\/h2>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]We work on both applied and methodological challenges in health decision sciences and health economics pertaining to paediatric populations. Through our work, we aim to improve decision-making practices in paediatrics.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/span><\/p>\n

Who We Work With<\/span><\/h2>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]We collaborate with a number of research networks, institutes and individual researchers in Canada and internationally. Examples include our involvement in the<\/span> Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health<\/a><\/span>, the<\/span> CIHR Preterm Birth Network Initiative<\/a>,<\/span><\/span> the<\/span> Innovation in Paediatric Clinical Trials Project<\/a>,<\/span><\/span> the<\/span> Decision Analysis in R for Technologies in Health (DARTH) Workgroup<\/a>,<\/span><\/span> and the<\/span> Toronto Health Economics and Technology Assessment (THETA) Collaborative<\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Areas of Research<\/span><\/h2>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Our methodological work is situated at the intersection of health economics, decision analysis and biostatistics. The applied work we are involved in relates primarily to paediatric populations, with a special focus in paediatric oncology and preterm birth. Topics of interest include:<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Decision analysis using open-source software<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Use of value of information analysis in paediatric clinical trial design<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Estimation of the cost-effectiveness threshold in cancer<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Use of survival analysis methods in decision modelling<\/span><\/li>\n
  • The economic burden of preterm birth<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
