She and her team assessed functional and structural brain correlates of high-level cognitive skills, including emotional processing, Theory of Mind and working memory. Her current focus is on the application of OPM-MEG to investigate early brain development and emerging neural signatures of autism in toddlers and young children.<\/p>\n<\/div><div graduate student and returned in 2024 as a postdoctoral research fellow. She completed her PhD in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Nottingham (2020-2024), where her research focused on the technical development and application of OPM-MEG for paediatric populations. Now in Dr. Taylor&#8217;s lab at SickKids, she is continuing this work through ongoing collection and analysis of OPM-MEG data from toddlers and children with and without neurodevelopmental conditions. Lyam is particularly interested in the application of novel analysis methods and Bayesian inference to neuroimaging data. She is interested in how the developing brain supports the extensive amount of learning that occurs throughout childhood, and how this may differ in neurodevelopmental disorders.
