[vc_row][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text]The Mabbott Lab is located at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) Research Institute in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. SickKids is world-renowned for its research and is\u00a0Canada\u2019s largest, hospital-based child health research institute<\/a>. It fosters training of post-doctoral fellows, graduate students and summer students through the activities of the\u00a0SickKids Research Training Centre<\/a>, which offers workshops and seminars intended to help guide trainees further in their careers.<\/p>\n

Our lab members train in a collaborative environment and are mentored for future positions in the best laboratories in their chosen field.<\/p>\n

We use multiple techniques in the lab, including structural and functional brain imaging and neuropsychological testing. Graduate students in the Mabbott Lab have the opportunity to use any combination of these tools to study brain growth and cognitive development in children with neurological disorders (i.e., brain tumours, cerebral palsy, and multiple sclerosis). Graduate students also receive extensive hands-on training in both theory and methods, enabling them to ask important questions in developmental neuroscience.<\/p>\n

Postdoctoral Research<\/strong><\/p>\n

Individuals interested in a post-doctoral position are invited to send a Curriculum Vitae and names of two referees to Dr. Mabbott at\u00a0donald.mabbott@sickkids.ca<\/a>. Candidates should have a solid background in cognitive neuroscience and imaging science. Positions are for an initial two-year term with the possibility of renewal.<\/p>\n

Graduate Research<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. Mabbott accepts graduate students in the\u00a0Department of Psychology<\/a>\u00a0at the University of Toronto. The University of Toronto is ranked as one of the world\u2019s top 20 research universities.\u00a0Ideal candidates would have a degree in psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, or computer science as well as research experience. The department requires an A- average in the last two years of undergraduate study. Some training with cognitive neuroscience techniques and\/or quantitative training (including but not limited to programming experience in Python, R or Matlab) are highly desirable, though not required.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”135″ img_size=”” style=”vc_box_outline” border_color=”vista_blue”][vc_empty_space height=”28px”][vc_column_text]Location<\/strong><\/p>\n

SickKids and the University of Toronto are located in downtown Toronto. The city is one of the most liveable and cosmopolitan cities in the world, and has a vibrant academic and biomedical community.<\/p>\n
