They protect hosts against pathogens primarily through the production of neutralizing antibodies. As such, surface receptors on B cells are prominent targets for the design of vaccines that can elicit high titers of neutralizing antibodies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Conversely, dysregulation of B cell homeostasis can lead to autoimmune diseases, as well as <span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1460745665964_30646\">devastating blood cancers,<\/span> <span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1460745665964_30654\">such as leukemias and lymphomas<\/span>. B cell surface receptors are therefore also targets for the development of therapeutics that can deplete dysregulated B cells.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">We use integrative structural biology techniques including X-ray crystallography and cryoEM to provide molecular details into the function and targeting of B cell receptors.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-3 fusion_builder_column_1_2 1_2 study antibodies and glycoproteins in health and disease. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">These include high-capacity incubator\/shakers and high-performance purification equipment for the isolation of homogeneous glycoproteins from expression in mammalian\/insect cells; high-throughput and micro-volume systems for the biophysical characterization of glycoproteins and their interactions with antibodies (Structural &amp; Biophysical Core Facility); an automated crystallography infrastructure (Structural &amp; Biophysical Core Facility) and state-of-the-art cryoEM equipment<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"> (Nanoscale Biomedical Imaging Facility) that includes a Titan Krios microscope equipped with a Falcon 4 direct electron detector.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-4 fusion_builder_column_1_1
