The Pediatric PainSCAN© is a self-report screening tool to identify children and adolescents who might have neuropathic pain and complex regional pain syndrome.

The tool has 3 parts:

  • Part A pertains to pain location, intensity, duration and frequency. Part A is informative only and not scored.
  • Part B pertains to the overlapping symptoms of NP and CRPS. A positive screen on Part B indicates the respondent has potential NP or CRPS (as opposed to another pain condition).
  • Part C pertains to the unique symptoms of CRPS. For respondents who screen positively on Part B, a positive screen on Part C indicates potential CRPS as opposed to NP.
