In collaboration with a national leader in medical engineering and technology, our team is creating novel VR tools for assessment and intervention of cognitive traits (executive functions) common in neurodevelopmental and brain-based disorders. A key advantage of VR is the immersive experience it creates. This immersiveness is linked to greater sense of engagement and attention than what can be achieved by traditional 2D tasks. The ability of VR to engage several sensory modalities and create a psychological state of \u201cbeing there\u201d contributes to VR\u2019s greater ecological validity compared to similar tasks in 2D environments.\u00a0 We expect that the immersiveness of VR will make the computer tasks more enjoyable and engaging, which will have a positive effect on motivation, ecological validity of assessment, treatment compliance and effectiveness.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-1 fusion_builder_column_2_5 2_5 fusion-two-fifth fusion-column-last\" style=\"--awb-bg-blend:overlay;--awb-bg-size:cover;width:40%;width:calc(40% - ( ( 4% ) * 0.4 ) );\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-column-wrapper-legacy\"><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-4\"><h2>We are opening up recruitment soon!<\/h2>\n<p>We are looking to see if a <strong>VR game-based approach<\/strong> to assessment and intervention can help improve executive functioning and mental health outcomes in youth. You can help us out with our research study if you are\/or have a:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Child with a diagnosis of:\n<ul>\n<li>Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Between 10\u201316 years of age<\/li>\n<li>Willing to come to SickKids for a 3-week training consisting of 6 individual bi-weekly visits to
