Stephanie Almeida received her PhD from the department of Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto. Under the supervision of Dr. Sabine Cordes, she characterized the protein interaction network of the Gumby/OTULIN gene to identify its role in canonical Wnt signalling during angiogenesis. She joined the Justice lab in 2015 to help characterize genetic suppressors of the Mecp2-null mouse model of Rett syndrome combining proteomic and genome-wide sequence analysis. When she is not in the lab you can find her spending as much time as possible outdoors during the all-too-short Toronto summers while either tending to her vegetable garden or attempting athleticism. In the winter she enjoys conducting experiments in baking and vegetarian cuisine.
