The Enhancing Research Impact in Child Health (EnRICH) lab in Child Health and Evaluative Sciences at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto is seeking a Clinical Research Project Manager.

This Manager possesses and applies highly advanced scientific knowledge of innovative research principles, theories, and concepts in the field of clinical trial methodology. The Manager will assist the Principal Investigator (PI) with day-to-day EnRICH research operations and manage the overall research program and team in the PI’s absence. This includes the long-term planning of on-going projects, day-to-day operations of on-going studies, and development of new projects. In addition, the Manager manages the personnel on the research team, comprised of a senior research assistant, a post-doctoral fellow, clinical research coordinators, assistants and trainees including on-going training and supervision, conducts performance appraisals, and organizes communication strategies and team meetings. Finally, the Manager develops close working relationships with the collaborating medical and methodological professionals both at the SickKids and other institutions.

Here’s What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Assist the PI and the research team in the design and creation of new techniques, procedures, and practices to improve clinical research in paediatric rare diseases.
  • Assist the PI in preparing grant applications and manuscripts, as well as peer reviews of others’ grant applications and manuscripts as appropriate.
  • Develop guidelines, procedures, and standards for reporting outcomes and measurement tools in clinical trials.
  • Provide leadership and supervision within the EnRICH team on trainees’ scientific projects.
  • Remain current on research of clinical trial methodologies, principles, and theories.
  • Apply scientific creativity and knowledge in clinical epidemiology and trial methodology.
  • Co-present research results to the department, members of the research community, and international conferences.
  • Assist the PI in ensuring that fiscal safety and legislative responsibilities are maintained.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • A passion for adding value to clinical research in child health.
  • Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Health Science or a related field with a minimum of three years’ experience in clinical research or research synthesis.
  • Experience with systematic and scoping reviews.
  • Experience in planning, preparing, and peer-reviewing/editing scientific abstracts and manuscripts.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills; demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and coordinate with large groups.
  • Ability to function independently yet collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience with web design platforms, such as WordPress and/or Wix and experience with REDCap data management software is an asset.
